The Twenty-Seventh Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed originally proposed on September 25, 1789. It was ratified May 7, 1992.

Amendment XXVII

Text of Amendment XXVII:

No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of representatives shall have intervened.
