Anna Brown is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. She joined the court in 1999 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton.
Early Life and education
A native of Oregon, Brown graduated from Portland State University with her bachelor's degree in 1975 and later graduated from the Lewis and Clark College's Northwestern School of Law with her J.D. in 1980.
Brown started her legal career as a law clerk to County Court Judge John Beatty in the Multnomah County Circuit Court from 1978 to 1980 before spending tweleve years as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Oregon from 1980 to 1992. In 1992, Brown became a District Court judge for the Multnomah County District Court from 1992 to 1994 before later becoming a Circuit Court judge in the Multnomah County Circuit Court from 1994 to 1999.

Brown was nominated by President Bill Clinton April 22, 1999 to a seat vacated by Helen Frye as Frye assumed senior status. King was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 15, 1999 on a majority voice vote and received commission on October 26, 1999.
