Early life and education
Born in the Bronx, New York, Eagan graduated from Trinity College in Washington, DC with her bachelor's degree in 1972 and from Fordham University Law School with her Juris Doctor degree in 1976.
Eagan was a law clerk to former federal judge Allen Barrow in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 1976 to 1978. From 1978 to 1998, Eagan was a private practice attorney in Oklahoma.

On September 4, 2001, on the recommendation of Senators James Inhofe and Don Nicles, Eagan was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma by President George W. Bush to a seat vacated by Thomas Rutherford Brett. Eagan was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 23, 2001 on a Senate vote and received commission on October 24, 2001. Eagan has served as the Chief Judge of the Court since 2005.
