Mississippi: Citizens and lawyers in certain Mississippi counties will soon have access to criminal court cases online. The Mississippi Electronic Courts system has been making advances across the state, but is still in the testing stage. The criminal cases pilot program is expected to go into effect in December. The goal of the electronic system is to allow lawyers to file court documents online 24-7 and to allow easy access of court records to the public. The civil cases are already available online in certain counties. The following counties will be part of the criminal case pilot program: Warren, Madison, Harrison, Holmes and Yazoo. Chief Justice William Waller lauded the program, stating, "It brings the courthouse, if you will, closer to the public."[1]
