Jeffrey A. Neary is a judge of District 3B of Iowa. He was appointed to this position in 2002.[1] He was retained on November 2, 2010, to a 6-year term which will expire on December 31, 2016.[2][3]

Military service

Neary served in the U.S. Army Reserves, Judge Advocate Corps and was honorably discharged in 1999.[1]

Education

Neary received a bachelor's degree in 1981 from Westmar College and a J.D. in 1987 from the University of South Dakota.[1]

Career

Neary has worked as an assistant Woodbury County attorney and a private practice lawyer in both Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa. During the mid-1990s, he worked part-time as a Plymouth County magistrate. He was also an assistant federal public defender in the Northern District of Iowa until his judicial appointment in 2002.[1]
