New York County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 2009. That same year, he became a Supervising Judge of the New York City Civil Court, where he has served as a judge since 2004. His current judicial term expires in 2013.
Oing began his career in 1989 as a law clerk to Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, Robert Wilentz. The following year, he joined the firm of Donovan Leisure Newton & Irvine as a litigation associate. After serving for a brief time in 1992 as Assistant Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey, he joined the firm of Herold and Haines, where he worked as a litigation associate in 1992 and 1993. From 1993 to 1995, he was a principal court attorney for the NYS Supreme Court's Law Department. He then worked as a court attorney for Supreme Court Justice Marylin G. Diamond (1995-98), a principal appellate court attorney for the Appellate Division, 1st Dept. (1998-2000) and a court attorney to Supreme Court Justice Walter Tolub (2000-02). He then worked briefly as a Deputy General Counsel for the City of New York. In 2002 and 2003, he was the Deputy Director of the New York City Districting Commission. The following year, he returned to his position as NYC Deputy General Counsel.
Oing's judicial career began in 2004, when he was elected to the New York City Civil Court. In 2009, he was appointed the supervising judge of this court and an acting justice of the Supreme Court.
