John Francis Grady is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He joined the court in 1975 after being nominated by President Gerald Ford. He is serving on senior status.

Northern District of Illinois
Grady was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois by President Gerald Ford on October 20, 1975 to a seat vacated by Edwin Robson. Grady was confirmed by the Senate on November 20, 1975 and received commission on November 21, 1975. Grady served as the chief judge of the Northern District of Illinois from 1986 to 1990 before later assuming senior status on May 23, 1994.

Judge Grady was the presiding judge in a lawsuit involving Craigslist. Grady threw out a lawsuit filed by Cook County Sheriff who wanted to sue the website for facilitating prostitution. He threw it out on the grounds that users of the website, not the website itself, are connected to prostitution.
