Rodenberg began his legal career in 1981 as a staff attorney for the Social Security Administration, Office of Hearings and Appeals. In 1982, he joined the law firm of Berens, Rodenberg & O'Connor, where he worked until his judicial appointment in 2000. He served on the Minnesota Fifth Judicial District in Brown County until he was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2011.
