John Rea is a civil court judge (Phoenix Division/Tax Court) for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona.[1][2] He first joined the court in 2004 and was retained in 2010 for a term expiring in 2014.[3] He is running for retention to the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2014.[4]

Evaluation

The Judicial Performance Review Commission provides Arizona voters with an evaluation of each judge up for retention. The commission votes on whether a candidate meets or does not meet the JPR standards. Each judge is assessed on their legal ability, integrity, communication skills, judicial temperament and administrative performance.[5]

The commission voted that Rea met the JPR standards. The vote was 29-0 in favor of retention.[4]

2010

Rea was retained with 62.75% of the vote in 2010.[3]

Rea earned an undergraduate degree from the Manhattan Christian College in 1973 and from Kansas State University in 1974. He earned his J.D. from the University of Arizona in 1977.[1]
