Brigantti-Hughes began her career as a senior court attorney to Justice Israel Rubin. In 1994 and 1995, she worked for the New York State Attorney General as a Bureau Chief. She then joined the law firm of Borah, Goldstein, Schwartz & Altschuler, P.C., where she practiced until 1996. She served as Counsel to the Bronx Borough President until her judicial appointment in 1997.
Brigantti-Hughes began her judicial career in 1997 as a judge of the New York City Civil Court. She worked in this position through 2004 and also served on the New York City Criminal Court from 2001 to 2003. In 2005, she was elected to the Supreme Court.
