Mary Lisi is a federal judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. She joined the court in 1994 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. At the time of appointment, she was the Chief Disciplinary Counsel for the Rhode Island Supreme Court. Lisi was the Chief Judge of the court from 2006 to 2013.[1]

Early life and education

A Rhode Island native, Lisi graduated from the University of Rhode Island with her bachelor's degree in 1972 and later graduated from the Temple University School of Law with her J.D. degree in 1977.[1]

Judicial career

District of Rhode Island

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Claibone Pell, Lisi was mominated by President Bill Clinton on January 27, 1994 to a seat vacated by Francis Boyle as Boyle assumed senior status. Lisi was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 6, 1994 on a senate vote and received commission on May 9, 1994. Lisi served as the chief judge of the court from 2006 to 2013.[1]
