Michael G. Takac is a Lake County judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was first elected to this position on November 2, 2006 (effective the following January) and was formally sworn in on February 2, 2007. He was re-elected in 2012 and his current term expires in January of 2019.[1][2][3]

Biography and Education

Takac was born in Teaneck, NJ. He moved to Marion County, FL in 1974. He received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and his law degree from the Campbell School of Law.[1][4]


Takac worked as Assistant General Counsel for Gov. Lawton Chiles from 1997 to 1999. After spending six years as a private practice lawyer, he joined the state Attorney General's Office, where he rose to the position of Senior Assistant Attorney General. He was then elected to the circuit court in 2006.[1][4][5]

2012 election

Takac was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
