Michael A. Telesca is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. He joined the court in 1982 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Between 1989 and 1995, Telesca served as Chief Judge. He assumed senior status in 1996. Prior to his federal judicial appointment, Telesca served as a Surrogate Court Judge for Monroe County (New York) between 1973 and 1982.
Early life and education
Telesca also served as a U.S. Marine Corps First Lieutenant from 1955 to 1957.
Western District of New York
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Al D'Amato, Telesca was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on March 11, 1982 to a seat vacated by Harold Burke. Telesca was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 20, 1982, and received commission on April 21, 1982. Telesca served as the chief judge of the Western District of New York from 1989 to 1995 before later assuming senior status on May 3, 1996.
