Yellowstone snowmobile case (2009)
*STATE OF WYOMING: PARK COUNTY COMMISSIONER HALL v. UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR No. 09-8035
Judge Gorsuch was the lead judge of a three-judge panel that heard oral arguments over snowmobile management plans at Yellowstone National Park. Judge Clarence Brimmer ruled in favor of a plan to reduce the number of snowmobiles at Yellowstone. It was reported that Judge Gorsuch closely questioned the motives of Wyoming Assistant Attorney General James Kaste during the oral arguments. In December of 2009, Gorsuch dismissed the case stating that the point was moot because earlier in November a cap was placed on the snowmobiles for the season.
