Nevada District Courts

Nevada District Courts are the courts of original jurisdiction in the state of Nevada. Appeals from these trial courts go directly to the Nevada Supreme Court as there is no intermediate appellate court in Nevada.[1]

Jurisdiction

The District Courts have general jurisdiction over all legal matters. District Courts may also hear appeals from the Nevada Justice Courts and Nevada Municipal Courts.

For civil cases involving money damages, district courts have a minimum jurisdictional threshold of $10,000.00. Any civil case in which a litigant is seeking a specific sum of money that is less than $10,000.00 needs to be litigated through the appropriate Nevada Justice Courts.[2]
