Peter M. Weinstein is the Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to a newly-created judgeship by former Governor Lawton Chiles on August 26, 1997 (effective Jan. 1). His current term expires in January of 2019. He took office as Chief Judge on July 1, 2011 and will serve a two-year term.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Weinstein received his B.S. degree from New York University in 1967 and his J.D. degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1970.[4][5]

Career

Weinstein has worked as a legal officer in the U.S. Army, as a Broward County prosecutor and a private practice lawyer. He was elected to the Florida Senate in 1982 and served there for 14 years. He joined the circuit court in 1998.[1][4][5]

2012 election

Weinstein was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[6]
