Robert James Jonker (b.1960) is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He joined the court in 2007 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Early life and education
Born in Holland, Michigan,Jonker received a bachelor's degree from Calvin College in 1982, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1985.
Jonker was a law clerk for the Hon. John F. Feikens in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1985 to 1987 before entering private practice in Michigan until 2007.
Western District of Michigan
Jonker was nominated to the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan by President George W. Bush on March 19, 2007, to a seat vacated by Gordon Quist. Jonker was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 9, 2007, and received commission on July 16, 2007.
