Stephen Andersen is a Federal Appeals judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. He is serving on senior status.
Early life and education
Andersen began his career as a Trial attorney in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1960 to 1964 before spending the rest of his pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Utah from 1964 to 1985.
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, Andersen was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on July 23, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress. Andersen was confirmed by the Senate on October 16, 1985 on a Senate vote and received commission on October 16, 1985. Andersen later assumed senior status on January 1, 2000.
