Susan R. Miles is a Minnesota Tenth Judicial District judge for Washington County, Minnesota. She was elected to an open seat in November of 1996 and took office in January of 1997. She was re-elected in 2002 and 2008 and her current term ends in January of 2015.[1]


Miles received her B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1975 and her J.D. degree from Catholic University's Columbus School of Law in 1978.[1]


Miles began her legal career in 1978, working for the Legal Assistance of North Dakota. In 1981, she joined the National Consumer Law Center. The following year, she joined the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, where she worked until 1985. That year, she worked for the Colorado Office of Consumer Counsel. She entered the private practice of law in 1986 and worked for the firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi from 1986 to 1989 and for Hessian, McKasy & Soderberg from 1989 until her judicial election in 1996.[1]
