Timothy M. Tymkovich (b. 1956) is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He joined the court in 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to appointment, he was a private practice attorney in Colorado.
Early life and education
Tymkovich began his legal career as a law clerk for Chief Justice William Erickson of the Colorado Supreme Court from 1982 to 1983 before entering private practice in Colorado until 1991. Tymkovich was the Solicitor General for the Colorado Attorney General's Office from 1991 to 1996. Tymkovich resumed private practice in Colorado until his nomination to the Federal Bench in 2003.
Tymkovich was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit by President George W. Bush on January 7, 2003 to a seat vacated by John Porfilio. Tymkovich was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 1, 2003 on a 58-41 Senate vote and received commission on April 1, 2003.
