Todd McKenney is a judge for the Barberton Municipal Court in Summit County, Ohio. He was appointed to the court on April 11, 2014, by Governor John Kasich to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Christine Croce to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.[1] He will need to run for election to the court in November 2015 to serve out the remainder of Croce's unexpired term, which will end on December 31, 2017.[2]

McKenney previously served as a judge for the Summit County Court of Common Pleas Probate Division. He was also appointed to this court by Governor John Kasich and served from November 2011 to January 2013.[3][4]

He is running for the Summit County Court of Common Pleas General Division in Akron, Ohio in 2014.[5]

Education

McKenney received a B.A. from Hiram College in 1986, and his J.D. from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1989.[3][6]

Career

Before his appointment to the Barberton Municipal Court, McKenney practiced law with the firm of Leiby, Hann, Rasnick, Towne, Evanchan, Palmisano & Hobson, LLC in Akron, Ohio. He has also previously served as a probate judge for the Summit County Court of Common Pleas from 2011 to 2013 and was a state representative for the 43rd Ohio House District of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2010 to 2011. Prior to this, McKenney practiced law with the firm of McKenney & Gingrich Co., LPA, served on the City Council of New Franklin, and was a judicial law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.[3]
