Vernon Broderick is a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. On April 15, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Broderick to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to fill the vacancy left by Deborah Batts.[1] He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 9, 2013.[2]

Early life and education

Broderick attended Yale University, graduating with a B.A. with honors in 1985. He went on to attend Harvard Law School, earning his J.D. with honors in 1988.[1]

On April 15, 2013, President Barack Obama nominated Vernon Broderick to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York to fill the vacancy left by Deborah Batts.[3] Obama commented on the nominations, stating:

I am proud to nominate this outstanding candidate to serve on the United States District Court bench. Vernon Broderick has a long and distinguished record of service, and I am confident he will serve on the federal bench with distinction."[1][4]

Broderick was rated Unanimously Well Qualified by the American Bar Association. He had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 23, 2013 and you can find his Committee Questionnaire available here and his Questions for the Record available here.[5] On September 9, 2013, Broderick was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on a voice vote.[2]
