5 year vacancy on Deleware District Court ends
Delaware: On Thursday November 3, 2011 the United States Senate voted to confirm Richard G. Andrews to the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, ending nearly five years of vacancies on the court.
On December 15, 2006 Kent Jordan was elevated from the District of Delaware to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His seat went empty until Leonard Stark received the nomination in August of 2010. Meanwhile in 2010, Joseph Farnan retired from the court to go into the private practice of law with his sons Brian and Joseph J. Farnan III.
In 2011, Andrews was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Farnan, which brought the complement of judges up to the full four authorized by Congress.
