Alabama: Justice Tom Parker, a Republican on the Alabama Supreme Court, has filed a lawsuit within the Montgomery County Circuit Court that asks judge William A. Shashy to disqualify candidate Eric Johnston from seeking Republican nomination for the state Supreme Court. The suit alleges that because Johnston did not file an economic interest statement with the Alabama Ethics Commission or a campaign finance report with the Secretary of State on time, he should be disqualified. Johnston's attorneys argued that the forms were filed on time, in a hearing on Thursday, May 13. Eric Johnston is seeking Republican nomination for Parker's seat on the court alongside attorney James R. Houts.[1]
