Alabama is top spender in judicial elections
Alabama: Alabama Supreme Court candidates have already spent over $1 million on their campaigns, making this state the nation's leader in judicial election spending. Incumbent Justice Bolin's campaign was reportedly the most expensive, having spent $550,000 as of May 26th. Ohio and Pennsylvania, the next biggest judicial campaign spenders in the country, have only spent about half that of Alabama. Furthermore, only three of the nine seats on the Alabama Supreme Court are up for election this year. According to the organization "Justice at Stake", candidates for the same positions in 2004 spent a total of $7.7 million.
