Amos Mazzant

Amos Mazzant is a magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He was appointed to this position on January 9, 2009.[1]
Background and Education
Justice Mazzant grew up in Elwood City, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the University of Pittsburg in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in history. He later earned his law degree in 1990 from the University of Baylor.[2].
Legal Career
Justice Mazzant began his legal career as a law clerk for Hon. Paul Brown. He then practiced at the law firm Henderson Bryant & Wolfe. He has also worked as a briefing attorney for two U.S. magistrate judges. After this, he became a private lawyer again and was Of Counsel at Wolfe Tidwell & McCoy LLP until July of 2004, when Gov. Perry appointed him to the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. He was retained by voters in the 2004 and 2006 elections.[2]

Personal Life
Justice Mazzant and his wife Michelle have two children, Katelyn and Alexandra.[2]
