Andrew D. Hurwitz is a justice on the Arizona Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court in 2003 by Democratic governor Janet Napolitano and then retained in 2006. His current six-year term on the court expires in 2012.
On July 1, 2009, Hurwitz began a five-year term as the court's Vice Chief Justice.
Legal education and experience
Justice Hurwitz earned his A.B. in Public and International Affairs, cum laude, from Princeton University in 1968 (Phi Beta Kappa; Princeton Pre-Law Society, President) and his J.D. from Yale University in 1972 where he was Yale Law Journal Note and Comment Editor, 1971-1972 and on the Board of Editors, 1969-1971.[1]

Legal career
Justice Hurwitz practiced law with the firm Meyer Hendricks Victor Osborn & Maledon from 1974-1980, 1983-1995. He served as Judge Pro Tempore, Arizona Court of Appeals, Div. I, 1994, 1996 and 1998 and worked for the firm Osborn Maledon from 1995-2003 before becoming a Justice on Arizona Supreme Court (2003 to Present).
