Anthony A. Monton is the Chief Judge for the 27th Circuit Court in Michigan (counties of Oceana and Newaygo). He was first elected to this position in 1988 (effective January 1, 1989). He was re-elected in 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2012. His current six-year term ends on January 1, 2019.[1][2]

Education

Monton received his B.A. degree from Michigan State University in 1973 and his J.D. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1976.[1]

Career

Monton worked as a private practice lawyer with the Urick and Monton Law Firm from 1976 until he was elected to the Circuit Court in 1988. He was also an Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney from 1981 to 1988.[1]

2012 election

Monton was re-elected after running unopposed in 2012. [3][4]
