Timeline
Edmund Jennings Randolph served as the first Attorney General from 1789-1794. Since his inaugural debut, there have been 80 additional United States Attorney Generals.[1] The most recent Attorney General to be confirmed is Michael Mukasey, who was confirmed--by the narrowest margin (53-40) in over 50 years-- by the United States Senate on November 8, 2007.[2]
