Benjamin Jones is a judge in the 4th Judicial District, Louisiana.

Education

Jones earned his undergraduate degree from Southern University in 1966 and his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1969. [1]

Legal career

From 1970-1971, Jones served as an Army Intelligence Officer. He has also worked as a private practice attorney in Monroe, Louisiana, as Deputy Legal Counsel to the Governor of Massachusetts, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in Boston, Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Board of Appeal on Motor Vehicle Liability, Policy & Bonds in Boston, and as a legal services attorney for the Boston Legal Assistance Project. In 1992, he was elected to the bench of the Fourth Judicial District for Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes. [1]

Jones also served as a justice pro tempore for the Fourth District of the Louisiana Supreme Court, a post to which he was appointed by the members of the Supreme Court upon the retirement of Justice Chet Traylor. The appointment was effective June 1, 2009 through November 30, 2009. [2]
