S. Bernard Goodwyn (born 1961) is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Justice Goodwyn was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Tim Kaine in 2007. His term expires on February 8, 2020.[1]

Legal education

Justice Goodwyn earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Harvard University, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1986.[2]

Legal experience

Justice Goodwyn was a Partner with Willcox and Savage Law Firm from 1992 to 1995, and a Research Associate Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, he was elected Virginia State Official Judge of the General District Court, in 1997, he was elected Virginia State Official Judge of the First Judicial Circuit Court, and in 2007, he began his term on the Virginia Supreme Court.[3]
