Brent Appel

Brent R. Appel was appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court by Gov. Vilsack in 2006. His current term expires December 31, 2016.[1]
Biography
Justice Appel earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University in California in 1973 and his J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1977. [1]
Legal career
Justice Appel began his career as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He became a First Assistant Attorney General in 1979 and a Deputy Attorney General in 1983. He then practiced law in Des Moines from 1987 until he became a Supreme Court justice in 2006. [1]
