Brookings County is one of fourteen counties located within the South Dakota Third Judicial Circuit.[1] The people of Brookings County are served by a Circuit Court and a Magistrate Court.
The United States District Court for the District of South Dakota has jurisdiction in Brookings County. Appeals from the District of South Dakota go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
