Buncombe County is located within the North Carolina District Court judicial district 28 and the North Carolina Superior Court Eighth Division.

The United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina has jurisdiction in Buncombe County. Appeals from the Western District go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
