Burton Conner appointed to Florida's appellate court
February 16, 2011
Florida: Two days ago, Governor Rick Scott appointed Burton C. Conner to serve on the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal. Conner has been a judge on the Florida Nineteenth Circuit Court since 1997. [1]
The new governor made clear what he looks for in a judge, saying, "Judge Conner represents the values and judicial conservatism I am looking for in our judges. He has a great reputation in the community and a great law-and-order demeanor. Primarily a criminal court judge for most of the past 15 years, he has demonstrated a judicial philosophy that makes him unlikely to overstep the role of the judiciary.” [1]
Conner fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Gary Farmer. If the judge wishes to continue serving, he must run for election to the seat in 2012. [1]
