The Hearing is scheduled for 2:30 PM-ET/11:30 AM-PT with the hearing being presented on a live webcast through the Senate Judiciary Committee's Website

- April 3: Iowa Supreme Court in the matter of Varnum v. Brien upheld a 2007 District Court decision in Iowa ruling that Iowa's ban on gay marriage is ruled unconstitutional

- April 9: Robert Klausner received commission as a judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of California.

- April 21:
- James Moran of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois passed away.
- Northern District of Illinois federal judge James Zagel will preside over the formal arraignment of impeached Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich in which the Governor is expected to enter a plea. The arriagnment is scheduled for 10:00 AM-CDT at the Everett Dirksen Courthouse in Downtown Chicago[2].
- April 27: The State of Iowa recognizes same sex-marriage legally after the April 3, 2009 Iowa Supreme Court decision of Varnum v. Brien.
- April 28: The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee held a confirmation hearing for former Yale Law Dean Harold Koh.

- May 1: Justice David Souter of the Supreme Court of the United States will announce his retirement effective at the end of June 2009.
- May 5: Robert Gettleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois assumed senior status.

- May 12: The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee voted to allow former Yale Law Dean Harold Koh face a confirmation vote in the United States Senate as State Department Legal Adviser.

- May 15: New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine re-appoints Barry Albin to lifetime tenure on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

- Carol Conboy was appointed to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.
- David Gilbertson was re-elected Chief Justice of the South Dakota Supreme Court.
- June 1: Henry Herlong of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina assumed senior status.
- June 2: Judge Charles Clevert in the Eastern District of Wisconsin federal court rules in the case of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State v. Elmbrook School District that the Elmbrook (Elm Grove-Brookfield) School District can hold its graduation ceremony in a church.
- June 4: Andre Davis and David Hamilton were reported favorably by the Senate Judiciary Committee and advance to a full senate vote.
- June 5: Arkansas Court of Appeals judge Courtney Henry announces her run for the Arkansas Supreme Court in the 2010 election.

- July 15: The Senate Judiciary Committee held the third day of confirmation hearings in regards to the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States.
- July 15-17 Federal Magistrate Judges Association holds their 47th Annual Convention in Milwaukee.

- Paul Suttell took the oath of office to become the Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Justice.
- The Senate Judiciary Committee held the final day of confirmation hearings in regards to the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States.
