Carl J. Marlinga is a judge on the Macomb County Probate Court in Michigan. In 2012, he was elected to the court to a term expiring in 2019. [1]
Education
Marlinga received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy, summa cum laude. He earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.[2]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Marlinga was in private practice from 2004 to 2012. He served as the Macomb County Prosecutor from 1985 to 2004, and previously worked as an assistant United States Attorney. Marlinga has worked as an adjunct professor for the Wayne State University criminal justice department, teaching Constitutional Criminal Procedure and the American Court System.[2]
2012 election
Marlinga advanced from the primary election, winning 55.88% of the vote. He defeated Sandra Harrison in the general election on November 6, winning 60.68% of the vote. [3][4] [5]
