Carol A. Corrigan is an associate justice of the seven member California Supreme Court. She was appointed to the court in the state's Commission-selection, political appointment method of judicial selection on December of 2005 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Justice Corrigan was retained to a full 12 year term in November of 2006. Her current term ends in 2015.[1]
Education
Corrigan earned her undergraduate degree from Holy Names College in 1970. She then enrolled in a clinical psychology doctoral program at St. Louis University where she attended from 1970 until 1972. After two years, she decided to pursue a career in law and enrolled in the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she earned a Juris Doctor in 1975.[1]
Professional career
Following her admission to the bar in 1975 Corrigan served as a Deputy District Attorney, for Alameda County, California. In 1985 she became the Senior Deputy District Attorney for Alameda. In 1987 she was appointed as a Judge to the Oakland, Emeryville Piedmont Judicial District, and was successfully elected in 1988. In 1991 she was appointed to the Superior Court of Alameda County, California, again successfully being elected in 1992. In 1994 she was appointed and elected by voters to the California First District Court of Appeal, Division Three. She was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwartznegger to the California Supreme Court in 2005, a position to which she still serves.[1]

Corrigan ran unopposed in 1992 to retain her seat on the Alameda County Superior Court.[2]
