Carol A. Corrigan is an Associate Justice on the California Supreme Court. She has held the position since January of 2006, after being appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Legal education and experience
Corrigan graduated magna cum laude from Holy Names College in 1970, where she was Student Body President. From there, she enrolled in a clinical psychology doctoral program at St. Louis University. After two years, she decided to drop out and instead attend University of California, Hastings College of the Law, from where she received her J.D. in 1975.[1]

- Judge, Oakland, Emeryville Piedmont Judicial District 1987-1991 (Appointed, 1987; elected by voters, 1988).
- Judge, Alameda County Superior Court 1991-1994 (Appointed 1991; elected by voters. 1992)
- Associate Justice, California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, Division Three, 1994 - 2006 (Appointed 1994; confirmed by voters, 1994)
- In December 2005, Corrigan was appointed an Associate Justice of the [[California Supreme Court], she was confirmed January 4, 2006.
On Gay Marriage
In re Marriage Cases (May 2008)- Corrigan dissented from a decision which ruled a California ban on same-sex marriages violated the State's Constitution.[2]
Political affiliation
In 1995, Corrigan changed her party registration to the Republican Party, she formerly considered herself a Democrat. Corrigan described the change as a shift in her personal political philosophy, but others saw it as a strategic move towards being appointed to the California Supreme Court.[3]
