Celia Foy Castillo is a judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals. She was elected to this position in November of 2000 and her current term expires in 2010.[1] She is subject to a retention vote in 2010. [2]

Biography

Judge Castillo was born in southern New Mexico. She received a B.A. degree in Spanish and education from Saint Mary's College in 1971. She then left to teach English in Spain and later came back to teach Spanish in New Mexico. After that, she worked as a research analyst for the Legislative Education School Study Committee. In 1981, she received her J.D. degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law.[1]

Legal career

After law school, Judge Castillo clerked for Mary Walters of the New Mexico Court of Appeals. She then became as a private practice lawyer and eventually joined the law firm Foy, Foy, and Castillo, where she worked until her appointment to the Court of Appeals.[1]
