Charles Alexander Shaw is a judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He joined the court in 1993 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. On December 31, 2009, Shaw assumed senior status. [1]
Early life and education
Shaw graduated with his Bachelor's Degree from Harris Stowe State College with his Bachelor's Degree in 1966 then later graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with his Master's in Business Administration in 1971 then later graduating from theCatholic University of America's Columbus School of Law with his juris doctorate degree in 1974. [2]
Professional career
Shaw started his career as a Staff Attorney handling appeals in the Enforcement Division of the National Labor Relations Board from 1974 to 1976 then later in 1976, Shaw entered into Private practice in the State of Missouri until 1980. In 1980, Shaw became Assistant US Attorney Eastern District of Missouri from 1980 to 1987 before being appointed Circuit Court Judge of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri under the Missouri Plan from 1987 to 1993. Judicial career
Eastern District of Missouri
On the recommendation of Congressman William Clay, Sr., Shaw was nominated by President Bill Clinton on on October 25, 1993, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089 which was approved by Congress. Shaw was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 20, 1993, on a Senate vote and received commission on November 22, 1993. Shaw assumed senior status on December 31, 2009. [2] Shaw was succeeded in this position by John A. Ross.
