Cheryl L. Waite is a judge on the Ohio Seventh District Court of Appeals. She was elected to this position in 1996 (effective in early 1997). [1] She was re-elected to 6-year terms in 2002 and 2008 [2] and will be up for re-election again in 2014 since her current term ends on February 9, 2015.[3][4] She has also served as the presiding judge of this court.
Education
Waite received her undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University in 1982 and her J.D. degree from the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law in 1985. [1]
Legal career
Justice Waite began her legal career as a clerk for various firms while she was in law school. In 1985, she became a Youngstown Assistant Law Director. She was eventually promoted to First Assistant. From 1991 through 1996, she also worked as the City's acting Risk Manager. She was elected to the Court of Appeals in 1996.[1]
