Chief Justice Davis retires from Kansas high court
Kansas: Today, Chief Justice Robert Davis announced that he will leave the Kansas Supreme Court, effective immediately. Davis cited health concerns as his reason for retiring. Earlier this year, he temporarily left the court due to unspecified health problems.
Since the chief justice on the Supreme Court is the justice with the most seniority, Lawton Nuss will fill that vacancy. Governor Mark Parkinson is responsible for appointing a replacement. The Supreme Court Nominating Commission will recommend individuals for the governor to choose from.
