Cook was defeated by Edward M. Maloney on Nov. 6, 2012, receiving 40.3% of the vote. She was previously unopposed in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012, receiving 100% of the vote.[1][2]

Cook received her B.A. degree (Philosophy) from Loyola University of Chicago in 1985 and her J.D. degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago Kent College of Law in 1990.[3]
