Clayton Greene, Jr. is a judge on the Maryland Court of Appeals, which is the state's court of last resort. He was appointed to the court on January 7, 2004 by Robert Ehrlich, a Republican. He took office on two weeks later, and his current term expires in 2016.[1][2][3]

Education

Greene received his B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1976.[4][5]

Career

Greene began his legal career in 1977 as an assistant county solicitor in Anne Arundel County. The next year, he became an assistant public defender in this County. From 1985 to 1988, he worked as a Legal Consultant for the Wiley H. Bates Foundation and a deputy public defender in Ann Arundel County. He left the private practice of law in 1988, when he became an Associate Judge for the Seventh District Court of Maryland. In 1990, while working in this position, he became the Administrative Judge. He was advanced to the Fifth Circuit Court in 1995. He joined the Maryland Court of Special Appeals in 2002 and the Maryland Court of Appeals in 2004.[3][5]
