Clifton Mathews

Clifton Mathews (1880-1962) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on March 13, 1935 to replace William Henry Sawtelle. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 20th, and received commission on March 23rd. On June 30, 1953, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on September 7, 1962.[1]
