Clinton E. Averitte is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He has served in this position since 1987.[1]

Biography and Education

Judge Averitte was born in 1948. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas in 1971 and his J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1974.[1]

Career

Judge Averitte began his career in 1974 as a Texas Assistant Attorney General. In 1977, he joined the firm Hiersche, Martens & Averitte. He left this law firm in early 1979 to become an Assistant District Attorney in Lubbock County. He was the Chief of the Business Crimes Division until 1980, when he joined the Northern District of Texas as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. He became a magistrate judge on this court in 1987.[1]
