Courts in Oregon includes the state court system and two federal courts.
State courts
The Oregon state court system consists of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, Circuit Courts and the Tax Court.
Appellate courts
The Supreme Court[1] is the highest court in Oregon. The intermediate appellate court is the Court of Appeals[2][3]
Trial courts
The trial courts in Oregon are called Circuit Courts[4]. There is one Circuit Court in each of the state's 36 counties. These counties are organized into 27 judicial districts[5], which are each supervised by a presiding judge.[3]
Other courts
- There is an Oregon Tax Court[6], which has a Regular and Magistrate Division.[3]
- Apart from the Oregon Judicial Department, there are County Courts[7], Justice Courts[8] and Municipal Courts[9]. These are controlled and funded locally.
Federal courts
There are two federal courts in Oregon: the District of Oregon and the District of Oregon Bankruptcy Court[10].
Appeals go to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
