Appellate Court
The Supreme Court is the court of last resort in the state and hears appeals from the trial courts.
Trial Courts
The state's counties are organized into 9 judicial districts that the District and Circuit courts serve.
The District Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction. Also, appellate cases are heard by the District Courts. [1]
The Circuit Courts hear misdemeanor criminal cases and smaller civil cases. [2]
The Municipal Courts hear traffic and ordinance violations within their jurisdiction.
Federal courts
The federal court in Wyoming is the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming. The court hears cases in Cheyenne and Casper. Decisions of the District of Wyoming are heard by the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit
