Education
Judge Lewis received his B.A. degree from Brown University in 1967 and his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1970.[3]
Legal career
Lewis began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County, working in this position until 1975. From 1975 to 1977, he was an Associate General Counsel and Civil Rights Compliance Officer in the New York Criminal Justice Services Division. He then became the Principal Law Clerk to a Supreme Court Justice. In 1992, he became a judge on the Queens County Criminal Court. He was first elected to the Supreme Court of Queens County in 1996.[4][3]
