Daniel Venters

Daniel J. Venters (b. 1950) is an associate justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. He was appointed to this position on August 8, 2008 by Democratic governor Steve Beshear representing Kentucky's third supreme court district.[1] He occupies the seat on the court made vacant by the retirement of Joseph Lambert and his current term expires in 2010.[2] Venters has filed for election to the seat in the 2010 election cycle. [3]

Biography

Justice Venters was born in 1950 in Charleston, West Virginia. He received his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in 1972 and his J.D. degree from The University of Kentucky College of Law in 1975. He is now married and has three children and two step-children.[1]

Legal career

Justice Venters worked as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney from 1975 to 1979. He then worked as a District Judge for Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties until 1984, when he became a Circuit Judge. He returned to the private practice of law in 2003 and was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2008.[1]
